What to Expect:
Phil Haugen Horsemanship Clinics are designed to enhance fundamental horsemanship skills for a variety of disciplines, including: barrel racing, team roping, calf roping, penning, sorting, trail riding, and more.

Phil’s clinics cover the Level 1, 2 & 3 exercises that are the foundation of his training program that has produced over $1,000,000 in Equistat earnings. Phil welcomes those students who have a “problem horse.” Everyone deals with challenges from time to time, and Phil is ready to teach you how to communicate effectively with your horse to resolve these issues.

Students can expect to learn and practice skills, such as:
– Lateral softness, vertical softness and collection
– Softness in the ribcage
– Eliminating stiffness and elevation of a horse’s head in a run
– Letting your horse move out naturally while maintaining proper collection
– Smooth stops, turnarounds, lead departures, and turns
– Controlling your horse’s hindquarters
– Setting your horse up for a lead change
– Building your horse’s confidence and reinforcing good habits
– Improving communication with your horse and applying the training methods to your discipline

Djembe Drum Building Workshop @ Archaic Roots

Archaic Roots is a hand made art business that focuses on artistic expressions inspired by ancient traditions and cross-cultural perspectives. We focus on indigenous instruments and education with workshops, events, and presentations.

This workshop will provide you with all the supplies and guidance necessary to build your own personal djembe drum. During the building process, where you will birth your own drum, I will teach you how to build and take care of your drum. 


April 2022

Native American Style Flute Building Workshop @ Archaic Roots

Saturday April 9, 2022- 9:00 am
625 Farside Drive, Lakemont, GA

During this workshop you will be learning how to make your own Native American style flute. We will start with a pre-drilled square flute blank, then we will be making the sound hole (splitting edge) and channel, rounding the blank, carving a totem, adjusting the key, adding the holes and tuning each, decorating the flutes, and discussing the history, culture, and playing techniques. This class usually takes around 6-7 hours to complete, and you will be birthing your own custom flute by the end of the class.

Indigenous Frame Drum Building Workshop @ Archaic Roots

Saturday May 7, 2022- 1:00 pm til 5:00 pm

Learn to build your own frame drum (shamanic drum) in this wonderful workshop. In just a few hours you will learn the process of making this type of drum and be educated on the history and cultural/ceremonial aspects as well.

$200-$220

This cost includes a hoop frame drum with deer skin head. If you would like a larger drum or elk, buffalo or another type of skin please contact us and we will let you know the additional cost.
