Crush Fest Wine & Music Festival 2019 @ Yonah Mountain Vineyards

Yonah Mountain Vineyard’s annual day-long festival features live music, food trucks, an artisan market, wine tastings, and a chance for attendees to take part in the festival’s signature event—a traditional barefoot grape stomping accompanied by live accordion and guitar music from winery owners Bob and Jane Miller. Crush Fest has become a tradition at Yonah Mountain Vineyards and attracts more than 5,000 visitors of all ages from around the Southeast.

Throughout the day, Crush Fest attendees will have the chance to taste Yonah Mountain Vineyards’ wines, including a handful of new releases, as they shop, eat, and enjoy live musical performances from more than 10 regional and national artists. The music line up will feature hourly performances from the Crush Fest Drumline and the Atlanta Pipe Band.

Pre-Purchase Admission to Crush Fest is $40.00 per person ($35 for Wine Club Members) and includes access to all the festivities as well as 4 three-ounce wine tastings and a take-home souvenir wine glass. Purchase your ticket online today!

Renaissance Festival @ Lavonia Memorial Park

Take a step back into medieval times at Lavonia’s first ever Mini Renaissance Festival. Enjoy a turkey leg while watching a comedic take on Shakespeare or learn how to forge a knife or weave a basket. Let your kids unplug for the day to play old fashioned games that don’t require a USB cable! The festival will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. at the Lavonia Memorial Park (behind City Hall.) Entrance fee is $5 and 12 and under are free. The day will be filled with royalty, art, music, dancing, theatre, food, childrens’ games and a Doggie Kissing Booth! Everyone is encouraged to dress in Renaissance costumes!


Foxfire Mountaineer Festival @ Rabun County Civic Center

The Foxfire Mountaineer Festival is a one-day celebration of the rich heritage of the Southern Appalachian mountains, featuring traditional music from numerous regional performers, showcases and demonstrations of time-honored heritage skills and trades, and all manner of traditional games and puzzles for young and old alike.

The Festival also honors the people of Southern Appalachia, represented at the event by the some of the kind folks who have shared their lives and experiences with Foxfire students since 1966, allowing their stories to be shared with the world through the pages of The Foxfire Magazine and The Foxfire Book series.

Regular admission is $5 per person with children 5 and under free. All proceeds go to The Foxfire Fund, Inc. and support our many educational programs at our museum and in our schools.

Go ahead and plan on making a day of it — lunch won’t be a problem, with a variety of food choices from local and regional vendors. There will be top-notch bluegrass and a bit of gospel music on stage throughout the day, ranging from true traditional to more-current styles, but all mountain-grown, through and through.
Keeping the old skills alive, the regional artisans will be exhbiting their work as well as demonstrating their mastery of heritage skills such as woodworking, blacksmithing, folk pottery, textile crafts, and many others. The outdoor field events will give you more adventurous visitors a chance to see how you would fare in the mountains of old, with physical and mental challenges from the past: brute-strength and endurance contests like wood-chopping and log-sawing, skill and speed trials like archery and greased-pig chases, and simple schoolyard fun like three-legged relays and sack races.

The Georgia Apple Festival is one of the largest and most well-attended festivals in Georgia. It is a two-weekend event, held the 2nd and 3rd full weekends in October at the Lions Club Fairgrounds.

The Apple Festival features handmade, handcrafted arts and crafts, live entertainment, beauty pageant, car show, parade, delicious treats from fried Oreos to gyros, and all things apple.

Welcome to North Georgia! The Georgia Apple Festival brings two exciting weekends to Ellijay, Georgia every year with hundreds of vendors offering food, art, crafts, and more.

The Ellijay Lions Club, the Gilmer County Chamber of Commerce, the cities of Ellijay and East Ellijay, and Gilmer County invite everyone to come and enjoy the annual Georgia Apple Festival. There are over 300 vendors with handmade, hand-crafted items, as well as many on-site demonstrations of how selected types of crafts are made. Each year promises many new crafts as well as favorites from past festivals. There is a parade and antique car show each year. The antique car show is held at Ronnie Thompson Ford on October 12. The parade is on October 19, and begins at 10 a.m. in historic downtown Ellijay.

Spooktacular @ Veterans Memorial Park

Come to Veteran’s Memorial Park in Downtown Homer and set up a scarecrow that represents your business, club, hobby or family. If you have a business along Historic Hwy 441, feel free to put your scarecrow in front of your business. All scarecrows must include recycled or reused items along with wood and straw. Get creative and have fun. You can use props such as bales of hay, chairs, farm equipment or other items that tie into your scarecrow’s theme. Harvest Festival @ Main Street Toccoa

Set against a backdrop of blazing fall colors and flavored with the scent of roasting peanuts and mulling spices, one of the South’s most enduring festivals returns to Toccoa in October as it has every fall since 1978.

Staged the last weekend in October, the festival features more than 160 craft and food vendors. The event hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

As always, the emphasis is on homemade, home baked and homegrown items and every year something new and unique is offered for the thousands of visitors who flock to Toccoa for this huge event.

Two stages are set up for entertainment for the weekend, downtown shops and restaurants are open and several activities are available for children at the festival.

The festival also offers regional and international foods, a Classic Car cruise-in, a petting zoo, horse and buggy rides, puppet shows, farm displays and the Currahee Artist Guild’s art exhibit and sale. Food options will be a variety from complete dinners to snacks.

The festival features hundreds of craftsmen, performing dancers, jazz, and rock and roll, and country music, an antique and classic car show. Children and youth activities include rides, face painting, rock climbing, moon walk, petting zoo, and more. A shuttle takes visitors to beautiful Toccoa Falls.

Applications for the 2019 Harvest Festival will be available online on August 1, 2019.

Northeast Georgia Arts Tour

Discover the work of local artists … painters, potters, jewelry makers, fiber, glass, metal artists and more along our self-guided, year-round Northeast Georgia Arts Tour.

The Tour will take through several counties in Northeast Georgia and Western North Carolina; Rabun, Habersham, Towns, Union, White Counties in Georgia and Clay County in WNC.

This is a self-guided tour but all locations are open with demonstrations of some type this weekend. You can take this tour any time of year as well however, most venues are open year round but some may have seasonal hours. Call before you visit.

Appalachian Christmas is an annual tradition at BabyLand. Decorated for the Holidays, BabyLand General has more than a 100 trees from miniature, themed to traditionally decorated trees throughout the Hospital. Colorful bows, wreaths and holly deck the halls, walls and wind up the spiral staircase. A cappella quartet, Like the Dickens, dressed in 1840s English dress attire put visitors in the Holiday spirit with their caroling. At dusk the Lighting of BabyLand Ceremony begins and the Grand Prize Drawing is for a handmade, adoptable Little People.
